Serenity
Ministries – Carolyn Jackson, Director
“Serenity Ministries”
is a Christian based program that provides support and assistance to
meet the needs of the people in this church and community.
We will accept people right where they are mentally, emotionally and
spiritually. We strive to assist those who come to build a
relationship with God, use Jesus as a role model and realize the
Holy Spirit is alive within them. We assist them in experiencing a
spiritual awakening and nurture them in their spiritual growth as
they work to become the person Goad created them to be.
Here at Allen Memorial UMC, Serenity Ministries offers classes
in “BOUNDARIES” – an 8 week class that provides tools for you to
learn how to say “NO” and be able to stick with it, and when to say
“YES” and really mean it. You learn how to not let other people’s
stuff fall in your yard. The classes focuses on our relationships
and identifies those things for which we are responsible. Clear
Boundaries are essential to a healthy, balanced lifestyle. The
class is based on the book, “BOUNDARIES” by Dr. Henry Cloud &
Dr. John Townsend. Class includes video presentation, discussion,
handouts, and home work. This class is offered on a regular basis.
We offer a class in recovery, “STEPS AND FOOTPRINTS” that is an
8 week class based on the 12-step recovery program. This is a class
to identify the relationship between the 12 steps of recovery groups
and the basic principles of Christianity. The objective is to
establish God’s presence in our lives. Class includes: Bible study;
group discussion; video presentation; One on one opportunities;
homework assignments; handouts of discussion materials; and special
closing times. This class will be offered in the near future.
Once you have completed the class we will meet with individuals
one on one in order to help the person implement “BOUNDARIES” into
their every day life, BOUNDARIES is a life style change.
We offer various Bible Studies and currently we are doing
“TRANSFORMATIONAL JOURNAL” Bible Study which meets on a weekly basis
on Mondays 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Anyone is welcome to join this
group as we study each book of the Bible. There is daily reading,
journaling, and prayer and discussion at each weeks gathering for
discussion of what you have read and experienced during the week.
