Rev. Joe Black

Pastor

Rev.Black was appointed to Allen Memorial in June of 2011.  He comes to us from Middlesettlements United Methodist Church in Maryville where he was Senior Pastor for 10 years. He has been in the ministry for 46 years and as a child he says he knows he was destined to be a minister.

After graduating from Fulton High School in Knoxville, Tennessee, he attended Hiwassee College in Madisonville, Tennessee and earned his bachelor's degree in psychology and sociology from Tennessee Wesleyan college in Athens. He graduated from Asbury Theological Seminary in Wilmore, Kentucky with a Master of Divinity degree.

Rev. Black's family includes three married children and six grandchildren. In his free time he enjoys spending time with his grandchildren, walking, biking and playing the piano. He is also a fan of the Lady Vols and U.T. football and men's basketball.

 

Jane Jeffreys

Administrative Assistant/Treasurer

Jane began working at the church in 2011.

 

Janie Goines

Custodian

Janie is our Church Custodian.  She is also the Cafe Manager at K-Mart and is married to George Goines. She is a native of Michigan and has lived in the Athens area for 11 years. Her hobbies include embroidery and reading. And, she loves her dogs, Chaz, Buddy, and Jack and Jill. She has an adult son Jim who lives in Michigan and two stepsons Phil who lives in Texas and Chris who lives in Florida and a stepdaughter, Ginny who lives in Alabama. She also has six grandchildren. Jim has two daughters, Jamie Lee and Mia Rose. Phil has a son, Jared. Chris has a son Matthew. Ginny has two children, Ashley and Jonathan. Janie also has two great grandchildren.
